Oh yeah, discontinued my webcomic like ages ago so thought I'd take down that last journal...

So, not a lot goin' on with me. Just spent the weekend beating Portal 2 and now I really wanna play it AGAIN (haha testing withdrawals /is shot) mostly because Wheatley. I miss him. And then I read that huge P2 fanfic Blue Sky and it just made me miss him more and anyway...

Actually no, it's not just Wheatley it's the whole game I just sorta miss...

Except the blue repulsion gel man I hate that stuff

--actually most of that really deep level/Cave Johnson stuff kinda irked me

But anyway... life's pretty good. Maybe I should, like... draw more. Maybe I should draw some Portal fanart. I dunno.

Btw, I totes have a tumblr (sarahzahde.tumblr.com) buuuut I haven't been doing it recently because I was wasting too much time on it and so finally blocked it on my home network. Kinda wish I could go look on Portal stuff on it, though. Might help with this "itch"...

Okay byeeee

Ruby Shock

3 min read
That's, uh, the title of my webcomic. :)

I got a smackjeeves website for it, so that'll be my main thing for it. I'm still trying to decide if I should upload the pages to deviantart, though... thoughts?

I'll start uploading pages tomorrow. I'm gonna try to get a bunch of them out this week so people don't find out there's only one page and immediately lose interest.

In other news, I'm currently totally obsessed with Young Justice. Like, OH MY GOODNESS. There's only two episodes left to this season and I just-- I just-- I JUST SHIP WALLY/ARTEMIS SO HARD. (like you couldn't tell from my favorites pages haha). If anyone has any good recommendations for Wally/Artemis (Waltemis? Wall-Art?) fanfictions, videos, deviations... let me know. My main source for good fanfiction to read is my sister, and she doesn't watch Young Justice. I DON'T KNOW WHY.

BECAUSE EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH YOUNG JUSTICE.

Anyway. In other OTHER news, I'll be starting college this coming weekend. Wish me luck, guys. I WILL have a scanner (and a new laptop! Yay), so I'll be able to update Ruby Shock every Monday. Starting tomorrow. Yes. But, um, I wouldn't check out the website until Tuesday, because 11:30 pm is still technically Monday. So.

You know what? I'm gonna upload the first few pages here to try to get some interest going, and then maybe post one of those "New Page! Read Here!" things every time I update. I'll also post here stuff like Character Sheets and maybe some 1-2 page side comics.

As for the future of the comic, I have the whole thing plotted out, and here's the summary I came up with:

Adrian Gulf, a snarky young sorceress, is sent on a mission to investigate the disappearance of other young sorcerers, along with a team of friends. On the way she and her friends discover secrets from the past that may unlock the mystery-- both of the supposed kidnappings and their own origins.

Not sure that "sorcerers" is EXACTLY the right word. They use Chinese characters (as in, the symbols) to battle and use magic. :|

Okay that's enough typing for me.

See you all tomorrow!

New Webcomic!

2 min read
Well!

I've been back from China about a month now, actually. If you still want to read about my Kung Fu adventures, go to somewhatshaolin.blogspot.com .

I'll be leaving for college Mid-April! Yay! I'll be attending BYUI. :)

So, you would THINK that starting college would be a bad time to simultaneously start a webcomic.

But you know what? I'm gonna do it anyway! I'm doing practically nothing for the next month, and... for now, the planned release date is the second week of April. April 9th. How about April 9th? Haha. Yeah.

Oh man, I'm super nervous about it.

I'll be uploading the pages to deviantart until I find a good place to host it. The pages will come once a week. I'm considering Mondays, since it's right after a weekend, but I do need to figure out if that'll work after I register for classes....

Oh, what the heck. Mondays. It's gonna be Mondays.

The current working title for the comic is "Ruby Shock". It'll be based on last November's Nanowrimo novel, which I didn't get very far on. But since then, I've plotted out the entire thing (instead of just trusting fate and my characters, haha), and am getting pretty far along in the script... but anyway. That's neither here nor there.

My point is, I will be starting a webcomic and I appreciate any support/feedback/views you happen to give it.

*deep breath*

See you all April 9th!

-Sarah

Off to China!

1 min read
Hey! Well, deviantart isn't blocked in China, but I doubt I'll be spending any time here. So this is pretty much a 'goodbye' for five months as I study Kung Fu.

If you want to know more about that, my blog is somewhatshaolin.blogspot.com

Toodles!

Hi! For anyone who read my previous journal, I am now working on my own webcomic, which is tentatively titled "Ruby Shock". So, unless it's like less than 5 pages I probably won't be drawing anyone else's comic. Probably. The planned launch date for this is, like... April 2012? Yeah, April sounds good. I'm gonna do, like, a legit story structure plan instead of just launching into it willy-nilly, and besides I wouldn't want to start on something just to stop next month when I go to China.

Yeah! Did I mention I'm going to China to learn Kung Fu? I'm gonna hopefully keep a blog, www.somewhatshaolin.blogspot.com, so you can read more about it there. I say "hopefully" cuz I don't know China's policy on blogs. I know they block SOME things, but... anyway. If anyone can give me more info on that, then please shout out.

Comic-Con! San Diego! Yes, I was there! For Thursday and Friday (grrrmissedtheKorrapanel), anyway. If you were there and saw a trio of Jedi walking around OR Morgana and Morgause (from the BBC show Merlin) then I was one of thems. I was totally gonna mention it BEFORE I went, but deviantart was acting funny and stuff.

But it was a LOTS of fun. I really like San Diego! And I got to meet all sorts of famous people ("famous" meaning I know their names), like: Katie Shanahan, Johane Matte, VIC MIGNOGNA, Phil Foglio... and I saw Richard Hatch and Mark Hamill from a distance. I really want to go next year, but that's not really likely to happen.

For anyone curious about these people, here's some links.

Katie Shanahan: ktshy.deviantart.com/ and girlamatic.com/shrubmonkeys/

Johane Matte: rufftoon.deviantart.com/

Vic Mignogna: www.vicsworld.net/

Phil Foglio: girlgeniusonline.com/

Richard Hatch played the original Captain Apollo in Battlestar Galactica, and if you don't know who Mark Hamill is then you need to be eaten by a wookie. :)
